Wolfgang Gunther Award for Jens Beckmann

Chemist Jens Beckmann from the University of Bremen has been awarded the Wolfgang Günther Award for Scientific Excellence in Selenium and Tellurium Chemistry. The award recognizes his research on chemical elements such as selenium and tellurium.

The prize was awarded at the 16th International Conference on the Chemistry of Selenium and Tellurium (ICCST-16). The award includes a silver medal as well as a financial award of 500 euros.

“Jens Beckmann has achieved impressive research results on certain chemical elements such as selenium and tellurium over the past ten years. His extensive research is exceptional and regularly brings this often underestimated area of expertise into the focus of leading scientific publications,” said the ICCST.

About the Wolfgang Günther Award

The Wolfgang Günther Award is presented in memory of Wolfgang Günther, the initiator of the ICCST conference series. The prize is donated by the Günther family and other sponsors of the event, and is bestowed in two categories: for lifetime achievement and for exceptional scientific accomplishments in selenium and tellurium chemistry or related fields of research
