Cooperation program ?NoW ¨C Northwest Alliance Research Fund¡±

New collaborations between the University of Bremen and Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg are to receive targeted support.

This funding line enables the exploration of potential joint research topics between at least one person from the UOL and one person from the UB who have not yet published together and have not yet submitted joint applications for third-party funding. Priority in this funding line will be given to individuals outside the six joint research focuses and the two joint areas of potential.

Eligible activities include, for example, the organization and implementation of workshops, seminars, and retreats, possibly with invitations to external cooperating partners, for the development of new research ideas, the implementation of feasibility studies or literature searches, measures for the preparation of publications or applications for third-party funding. The program is embedded in the Northwest Alliance's mid- and long-term strategic planning to establish lasting academic networks and strengthen the national and international visibility of the participating institutions. Measures to initiate and intensify cooperation between the two locations are supported.

Eligible applicants: Professors and permanent research assistants at the University of Bremen and Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg.

The applicant submits the application to the university where they are employed. The funds are provided and administered by the applicant's university.

Eligibility Requirements: At least one researcher from the University of Bremen and one researcher from Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg must be involved. The cooperation goal must be new and clearly defined. The funds will be used to support research collaboration between individuals at the two universities. Priority will be given to projects outside the six joint research focuses and the two joint areas of potential.

Funding conditions: Applications can be submitted from October 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.

Applications for material resources of up to €5,000 can be submitted for up to 40 tandem constellations.

Procedure: Applications are reviewed by the respective university and decided jointly by the Vice President for Research and Transfer at the University of Bremen and the Vice President for Research and Transfer at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg.

Evaluation criteria

  • Potential of the planned collaboration for initiating excellent research projects
  • Feasibility of the planned project with visible results (workshops, publications, draft proposals)
  • Added value for the cooperation between the two universities

At any time from October 1, 2025, probably until June 30, 2026
