Cooperation Program "NoW ¨C Northwest Alliance Research Fund"

Supporting excellent research in the alliance between the universities of Bremen and Oldenburg

The aim is to promote collaborative research between the University of Bremen and Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. Priority is given to supporting the six joint research focuses and two joint areas of potential.

Eligible measures include, for example:

  • Organizing and conducting workshops, conferences, or meetings, possibly including external cooperation partners to develop new research ideas,
  • Conducting preliminary studies or pilot experiments,
  • Commissioning translation or consulting services (e.g., coaching),
  • The creation of illustrations, graphics, or prototypes in preparation for application for third-party funding

Eligibility: Research teams consisting of professors from both the University of Bremen and the University of Oldenburg.

Eligibility Requirements: Teams of professors from both universities must be involved. The goal of the partnership must be clearly defined.

The distinction from existing or planned joint projects elsewhere must be sufficiently clear. In particular, it must be demonstrated how each joint research focus or area of potential is supported.

Funding Conditions: Applications can be submitted at any time from 1 October 2025 until 30 June 2026, or until funds are exhausted.

Applications can be made for material resources of up to €20,000 for a maximum of 10 advanced projects. Funds will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applicants must submit their applications to the university where they are employed. The funds will be provided and administered by the applicant's university.

Procedure: Applications will be reviewed by the respective university and jointly decided upon by the Vice Rector for Research and Transfer at the University of Bremen and the Vice President for Research and Transfer at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg.

Deadline

At any time from October 1, 2025, probably until June 30, 2026
