Networking offers
The networking opportunities offered by the Minds, Media, Machines Integrated Graduate School are open to all members of the doctoral programs within the MMMIGS network, as well as to members of the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines and the doctoral candidates and postdocs they supervise. Access to the online community and the MMMIGS handbook can be requested by email, stating your name, university account, and faculty.
Online community
Because the members of the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines and the doctoral candidates they supervise belong to different working groups and, in some cases, different faculties and institutions, there are few opportunities for spontaneous interaction in everyday working life. For this reason, the MMMIGS provides a platform for contact and communication between both doctoral candidates and supervisors.
Access to the online community and the MMMIGS handbook can be requested by email, stating your name, university account, and faculty.
MMMIGS handbook
Members of the doctoral programs in the MMMIGS network, as well as members of the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines and the doctoral candidates they supervise receive access to the MMMIGS handbook, an online repository of knowledge on the doctoral process in the represented disciplines and at the University of Bremen.
The handbook will be gradually expanded with content of interest to doctoral candidates in the various phases of the doctoral process, as well as to the supervising university faculty and the coordinators of the doctoral programs. Furthermore, the handbook can be supplemented like a wiki by members of the graduate school. For example, members can report on their experiences at relevant conferences or with the publication process in various journals, document best practices for structuring the supervisory relationship, or exchange tips for planning workshops, retreats, or summer schools.
Networking meetings
The networking meetings in the MMMIGS & mingle series are designed to provide opportunities for doctoral candidates, postdocs and supervisors to get to know each other and exchange ideas across program and working group boundaries. The topics of these meetings are tailored to the interests and needs of the participants. These can relate, on the one hand, to the doctoral process (e.g., selecting a topic, writing academic texts, or structuring the supervisory relationship) and, on the other hand, to the research questions and research methods being addressed by the members.
The interdisciplinary nature of the hig-profile area increases the diversity of topics, methods, and approaches, thus providing added value for both doctoral candidates and their supervisors. The content of the networking meetings is documented in the handbook and is thus also available to members who cannot attend the meetings.
