Membership
Membership in the MMMIGS is open to all members of the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines and the doctoral candidates they supervise. Structured doctoral programs involving at least two faculty members from the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines can join the network of the integrated graduate school MMMIGS. The MMMIGS serves as a central hub, moderating and optimizing the flow of information between the programs. Participating doctoral candidates and faculty members are admitted as members of the MMMIGS.
Offers for doctoral candidates
Membership in the MMMIGS is open to all doctoral candidates supervised by a member of the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines. Doctoral candidates from doctoral programs within the Minds, Media, Machines Integrated Graduate School network are also admitted as members of the MMMIGS. All members have access to the MMMIGS networking, qualification, and support measures.
The networking measures include the online community and the MMMIGS handbook, as well as regular networking events. The training measures are geared to the needs of the doctoral candidates and include both subject-specific and – in cooperation with BYRD – transdisciplinary offerings that are of interest to doctoral candidates from multiple doctoral programs or MMM working groups. Furthermore, doctoral candidates can apply for financial support for stays abroad, conference attendance, and other doctoral-related activities.
Offers for faculty members
Members of the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines (MMM), as well as faculty members involved in one of the doctoral programs within the MMMIGS network, are eligible for membership in the Minds, Media, Machines Integrated Graduate School. Upon request, they will receive access to the online community and the MMMIGS handbook, as well as to the graduate school's other networking opportunities. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in the subject-specific qualification program for doctoral candidates to the extent possible.
In addition, the MMMIGS advises and supports members of the high-profile area MMM in designing new structured doctoral programs, in applying for university-internal recognition of their existing or new structured doctoral programs, and, if necessary, in applying for funding. Structured doctoral programs involving at least two faculty members from the high-profile area Minds, Media, Machines can join the network of the integrated graduate school MMMIGS. This applies to both third-party funded doctoral programs and programs that meet the minimum standards for recognition as a structured doctoral program at the University of Bremen.
The MMMIGS supports the programs in the network in acquiring funding, advertising doctoral positions or scholarships, and in communication measures. Quality assurance measures and administrative tasks can be bundled and carried out jointly to ensure optimal use of resources. To this end, the MMMIGS organizes regular exchanges between the coordinators of the affiliated doctoral programs. Doctoral candidates and faculty members participating in the doctoral programs in the network are accepted as members of the MMMIGS and receive access to its networking, qualification, and support measures.
