Proof of English language competence with a German Abitur or Fachhochschulreife

• A1: at least 1 year of English at school
• A2: at least 3 years of English at school
• B1: for those who did their Abitur or Fachhochschulreife in year 12 (G8) - at least 6 years of English at school - through to at least year 11
• B1:for those who did their Abitur or Fachhochschulreife in year 13 (G9) - at least 7 years of English at school - through to at least year 12

Obtaining a UNIcert I certificate

The UNIcert? I certificate is recognized as proof of language proficiency at level B1 for admission to Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at universities in the state of Bremen, as well as at all accredited institutions.

B1 / B1.2 certificate tests at the SZHB

First, please determine your actual language level by taking the C-Test.

We recommend that you register for the B1 exam in English if your result is B1.2 or higher.

• After you have successfully registered for the test, you will receive an email request to pay the test fee. 
• The fee to take the test is 40 EURO.
• You will receive your language certificate approx. 3-4 days after the test.
