Anyone who has attended a medieval studies seminar in the last few semesters is sure to have met her: Ms Krause - always present, attentive, committed. As a guest student, she accompanied many of us through our studies and was far more than just a silent listener.

How is a dictionary created? What does the Old High German dictionary reveal about our language and culture? Students from Bremen University learnt this and more during a workshop at the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities.

In her inaugural lecture on 30 April 2025, Professor Dr Anja Becker presented the medieval chivalric novel "Wigalois" in the rotunda of the Cartesium and ended, surprisingly, with a treasure hunt in the Bremen State and University Library.

This year's CHE ranking also emphasises the strengths of Faculty 10. In German Studies, it is the good support at the beginning of the degree programme. In Romance Studies, the University of Bremen has a particularly high number of doctorates per professor.

In a practical seminar, students of Faculty 10 had the opportunity to look over the shoulders of media professionals and contribute to the department's website. A continuation is planned for the winter semester 2025/2026.

The three-day annual conference of the ‘Gesellschaft für Namenforschung e.V. (GfN)’ took place in Uppsala in April 2025 under the title ‘Names in Context’. Three students were also given the opportunity to take part in the conference at the Institutet f?r spr?k och folkminnen by presenting posters.

Community over Commercialisation – this was the motto of the Open Access Week held at the State and University Library of Bremen last October. Anja Becker, Professor of Medieval German Studies, also took part in a panel discussion on the future of Diamond Open Access.

At the meeting of the Bremen Senate on 4 February 2025, Lucia Werder, Director of Bremen City Library, literary critic Dr Wiebke Porombka and university professor Dr Karen Struve were appointed as the new Board of Directors of the Rudolf Alexander Schr?der Foundation until February 2030.

Erstmalig wird im Wintersemers 2024/2025 ein neues Lehrangebot geschaffen, das Studierenden die M?glichkeit bietet, Kompetenzen im journalistischen Schreiben und Content-Management zu erwerben, an Inhalten der FB10-Homepage mitzuarbeiten und Kontakte zu professionellen Medienschaffenden zu knüpfen.
