Short Profile
Marlis Reich graduated in biology from the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in 2005 and completed her bi-national doctoral thesis at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) Nancy, France and the Georg August University of G?ttingen in 2009 as part of a Marie Curie Fellowship. After a one-year postdoctoral phase at the Georg August University of G?ttingen, she has the chair of Molecular Ecology at the University of Bremen as a HEP-V Lecturer since 2011. Marlis is a molecular mycoecologist and focuses her research on the biodiversity of marine fungi and the role they play in the functionality of the marine carbon cycle and food webs. To this end, she uses high-throughput sequencing methods and links sequence and environmental data sets via statistical methods. Both microbial community and taxon-based approaches are used in her research, so that species-specific characteristics can be tested in the laboratory and described at the genome and transcriptome level.
