On 25 November, Tanja H?rner and Lena Steinmann presented the BMFTR-funded project “Interdisciplinary Data Literacy Center for the Bremen Region – DataNord” during the two-day NFDI4DataScience Conference (25–26 November). The community event took place at Fraunhofer FOKUS.
The overarching objective of NFDI4DataScience is the development, establishment, and sustainment of a national research data infrastructure for the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence research community. The key idea is to work towards increasing the transparency, reproducibility and fairness of projects, by making all digital artifacts available, interlinking them, and offering additional tools and services.
DataNord’s contribution highlighted the growing importance of connecting the NFDI community with regional data literacy centers – particularly as research becomes increasingly data-intensive and methodologically complex.
The DataNord umbrella project is based at the Data Science Center (DSC) at the University of Bremen, which also coordinates the overall consortium. The DSC subproject is building essential services and programmes to support learning, research, and interdisciplinary networking. A dedicated team of data scientists provides training, consultation, and community formats for researchers across all disciplines and career stages. Additionally, the research projects MRI4All and SynData are being implemented as part of the Research Academy, allowing to embed data competencies directly into the research process.
