About this person

Nancy A. Odour is a Kenyan female Marine scientist who conducted her Ph.D. studies in Marine Biogeochemistry and Geology at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), in Germany under the DAAD Kenyan-German Postgraduate Scholarship between October 2020 and March 2025. Nancy’s research work involved fieldwork in Kenya and Laboratory work at ZMT, Germany. At the same time Nancy single-parented her now 6- year-old daughter while virtually parenting two teenage boys alongside her PhD research, Nancy is also the Co-Founder and Director at ERACOMA-Kenya and coordinated community conservation projects, involving conducting environmental education and awareness, and field supervision and mentorship programs for junior Environmental Scientists alongside her PhD study. In 2024 she was beneficiary mentee of Global Thinkers Forum. Finally, Nancy was awarded with the prestigious Global Ghost gear InitiativeGGGI grant for female conservationists around the world in 2022.
