DSC hosts 3rd Data-Science-Community Workshop at the INFORMATIK 2025

Together with the Digital Science Center of Kiel University, the DSC once again hosted the Community Workshop at the INFORMATIK Festival 2025 on September 16. The event aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange and sustainable networking among data science initiatives across Germany.


DSC Supports PACE Challenge 2025

Organized by DSC member Prof. Dr. Sebastian Siebertz, the PACE Challenge brought together teams from around the world to tackle two particularly challenging computational problems. The DSC provided the technical infrastructure that ensured fair and reliable conditions for all participants.

Data Nord Summer Meeting

On July 2nd, the summer meeting of the DataNord project – the interdisciplinary data competence centre for the Bremen region – took place. The annual event offers all project partners the opportunity to share updates and aims to foster exchange and collaboration across institutions.

As part of the DataNord project, the members of the U Bremen Research Alliance jointly organized the “Research Data Day” (TdF) on 11 June. The Data Science Center also attended the event and participated in the organisation of the Research Data Day 2025.

DSC Contributes to Study on Tobacco Outlets Along School Routes

Results from a study conducted by the University of Bremen have shown that students are regularly confronted with tobacco outlets on their way to school. DSC Data Scientists Annika Nolte and Susanne de Vogel contributed to the study by supporting the research team in the geospatial data analysis.

Dr. Sana Hassan Imam successfully defended her dissertation

DSC research associate Dr. Sana Hassan Imam successfully defended her dissertation titled “Enhancing User Engagement in Online Collaborative Communities using Artificial Intelligence”. The work was conducted in collaboration with the Research Group Diginomics at Faculty 07 (Business Studies).

Open Resources for Geoscience Data Science Training: DSC at the EGU General Assembly 2025

From April 27 to May 2 2025, the international geoscience community gathered in Vienna for the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union. DSC Data Scientist Annika Nolte attended the conference and gave a presentation on the topic of Open Resources for Geoscience Data Science Training.

The DSC Supports a Data Science Project Analysing the Determinants of Cryptocurrency Trends

The research project focuses on identifying the determinants of trend patterns in the cryptocurrency market. The main goal is to examine whether investor behaviour is driven by rational decision-making or behavioural biases.
