As part of a two-day workshop at the University of Bremen, the participants explored current research questions: How can energy be recovered from biogas or industrial waste gases to generate heat or electricity? How can batteries become more eco-friendly, resource-saving and save?
After a welcome from Lucio Colombi Ciacchi, the teachers went into the lab themselves. J?rg Th?ming guided them through measurements at the Center for Environmental Research and Sustainable Technologies. Fabio La Mantia took them into the laboratories at Fraunhofer IFAM.
Finally, the participants worked with Isabell Harder to develop specific concepts for teaching: How could the latest research be integrated into school lessons? How could materials be didactically reduced? What would a teaching session look like? Structural considerations were also up for debate. Discussions focused on how challenges in terms of content and time could be overcome and how universities and schools could work more closely together in the future.
First positive conclusion of the workshop: Current research offers great potential for school lessons. It can motivate students to address real and contemporary issues and to better understand their relevance.
