The reorganisation of the healthcare landscape is in full swing. The Health Management Congress in Berlin makes an important and solution-orientated contribution to the discussion of the challenges of active and courageous management.
Prof. Karin Wolf-Ostermann took part in the Capital Congress, which took place from 25 to 27 June 2025 at hub27 (Messe Berlin), as an expert in AI and digitalisation. Top experts from the industry came together at the congress to gather information and network, share and discuss the latest findings. Federal Minister of Health Nina Warken also attended the congress with a welcome address and a Q&A session. The session "Robots and AI instead of humans? Rescue in the age of staff shortages?" was moderated by Alexander Schmidtke from Klinikverbund Südwest gGmbH. The presentation by Prof Karin Wolf-Ostermann on "Robots and AI instead of humans? The presentation highlighted the great potential of AI to support carers in acute and long-term care, but also pointed out that the introduction of AI has still not been fully researched. Implementation challenges go beyond technical and regulatory requirements, as social, ethical and practical factors must also be taken into account. Key requirements for future use are proof of benefit based on high-quality studies with a high level of evidence, the development of skills for dealing with digitalisation and AI systems, the development of implementation and qualification concepts as well as AI and digitalisation strategies for care facilities and clinics
