In Bremen, Dr. Hannah Jilani and Prof. Dr. Ansgar Gerhardus from the Department of Health Services Research at the Institute for Public Health and Nursing Research (IPP) at the University of Bremen are conducting the health study with employees from the healthcare sector. The IPP at the University of Bremen, together with the ttz Bremerhaven, which analyses the health of employees in the port of Bremerhaven, forms the German study center. Scientists from Bremen and Bremerhaven recently presented their health study in buten und binnen in the article ¡°Overweight and sleep deprivation as health consequences of shift work?¡±
The health scientists at the University of Bremen are still looking for participants from the healthcare sector for the Bremen study. The IPP scientists, in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS) and St. Josefstift Hospital, will first conduct a comprehensive examination of the Bremen study participants. This will cover the areas of nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and stress. Detailed body measurements and biological samples, e.g., blood samples, will be taken. Based on these results, strategies will be developed for shift workers in the healthcare sector to promote a healthy lifestyle.
The research team welcomes anyone working in healthcare who is interested in participating in the study. Participants will receive some personal results and €40 as compensation for their time.
