They Call it Love – Introductory Impulses on Care Work
Thursday, May 22nd - 9:00 to 9:50 AM
They Call It Love – Introductory Impulses on Care Work Care work encompasses the caregiving responsibilities within (chosen) families, such as looking after children or relatives in need of care. In private settings, this work is unpaid but requires time, effort, and knowledge. This workshop is for those affected by mental load and anyone interested in a fairer distribution of care work—whether in private life, academia, or the workplace. Who takes on which tasks and when? What implicit assumptions influence task distribution? The workshop aims to provide impulses for reflecting on care work in the context of gender inequality and capitalist structures. No prior knowledge is required. In addition to knowledge-sharing, the workshop encourages personal reflection.
