Class Critical Perspectives on Universities
Tuesday, May 20th - 12:00 to 12:50 PM
Classism is discrimination based on social origin or social position, and it primarily affects people from poor and working-class backgrounds. Within the education system in particular, classism results in the denial of educational opportunities and mobility. We will explore the extent to which classist ideas are structurally embedded within universities and the importance of adopting a critical stance toward classism.
