You can log in to the Academic Cloud of the GWDG (Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH) with your university account and access various generative AI (genAI) models. 
These genAI services are called ChatAI. In day-to-day university work, generative AI can support many workflows. For example, it can help with drafting emails and proposal/application texts, summarizing longer documents, and creating meeting minutes – provided there is continuous consideration of data protection, copyright, and professional review of the results. 

To help you get started and ensure legally compliant use, we have worked with the legal department to develop a Guideline for the Use of ChatAI at the University of Bremen in the GWDG Academic Cloud and a Checklist for Legally Compliant Use of Generative AI Services. It was approved by the University Executive Board on August 12, 2025.
