Students explore work-related learning at Deutsche Bahn

In the summer semester of 2025, students in the Bachelor's project module "Applied Organizational Psychology" led by Dr. Julian Decius worked on a practice-oriented topic focused on the evidence-based development of work-related learning in organizations.

The cooperation partner for this semester was DB InfraGO. The aim of the seminar was to identify and analyze mechanisms that promote learning within organizational contexts. To achieve this, academic literature was reviewed and combined with qualitative findings from interviews conducted with employees of Deutsche Bahn. The students worked in three groups, each focusing on a different perspective: that of the learners, the trainers, and the organization itself.

The final presentation took place on June 30, 2025, at the invitation of the cooperation partners Julia Schultheis, Kathrin Denzer, and Nora Bauer at DB InfraGO’s Learning and Development Center in Maschen near Hamburg. In addition to presenting their results, the students were given a guided tour of the adjacent marshalling yard, offering valuable insights into railway infrastructure operations. The Field of Work Organizational Psychology extends its sincere thanks to the representatives of DB InfraGO and all those involved for the successful collaboration and their shared commitment to practice-oriented university teaching.
