  • Measured quantity
Surface information on surface structure or elemental composition.
  • Main application
Main applications include surface structure analysis as well as Material analysis (EDS) for a wide range of samples. A special focus is on biological samples for life sciences, which can be analysed in low vacuum or environmental mode often without prior preparations (critical point drying, sputtercoating).
  • In-situ, real-time compatible

Instrument specification

  • Technical aspects

Multipurpose stage for up to 21 samples tiltable from -15° to 90°, with flexible and precise eucentric positioning and tracking of saved positions.
ChemiSEM software and EDS detector for elemental analysis, which is possible for non-conductive samples in low-vacuum mode.

  • In-situ capabilities
MEMS-based ?heater enables highly localized sample heating up to 1200 °C in 100 ms for in situ high resolution imaging. EDS and EBSD imaging above 1000 °C is also possible due to low thermal radiation of the ?heater. WetSTEM system: Analysis of thin and bulk materials with absorbed water on a TEM grid, e.g. nanoparticles, thin samples and emulsions. Dynamic experiments to mimic industrial processes with humidity changes and temperature variation from -20°C to 60°C In situ tensile testing stage: 10 N load cell: tensile and compression forces from 10 mN to 10 N. Spindle spacing of 38 mm for in situ mechanical testing of small samples. Possibility for cyclic tests with a frequency of up to 0.1 Hz. Compatible with EDS analysis.
  • Correlated workflow
MAPS software for large-area image acquisition on multiple samples with up to four different simultaneous signals.
