In her videos Rudelius likes to observe people and observe relationships between individuals and groups. Her videos are midway between documentaries and staged plays, convey a feeling of authenticity that somehow competes with its glossy aesthetics. Driven by curiosity Rudelius examines cultural sterotypes and clichés. The works selected focus on patriarchial power structures in the context of sexuality and gender relations, and the somehow fruitless attempts of women to undermine these . The intimacy conveyed feels almost voyeuristic.

Julika Rudelius studied at Gerrit Rietveld Academy (1994-1998) and at Rijksakademie (1999-2001), has exhibited in distinguished institutions worldwide and is presently professor for time based art at HfK Bremen. In dialogue with  Christine Rüffert (University of Bremen) she talks about early works as well as newer ones, e.g. about Double Surface which is presently being exhibited at Weserburg Bremen.
