About

The MATENA innovate! Center was founded in December 2024 as an affiliated institute of the University of Bremen. It is funded by the Joachim Herz Foundation with up to 30 million euros over a maximum period of 10 years. MATENA stands for Materials - Technologies - Sustainability and is dedicated to promoting technology transfer in materials science.

Mission and goals

Our goal is to drive innovative research results and technological developments from science and research towards marketable products and services. As an agile start-up in a university environment, we work flexibly and dynamically with universities, research institutes and industrial partners to bridge the gap between research and application through joint projects.
