The Institute of Political Science (IPW) organizes the political science teaching programme in the Department of Social Sciences. It benefits from the research strength of its members. The various Bachelor's (BA) and Master's (MA) programmes offer a sound education in all areas of political science with a wide range of elective and specialization options. The Institute cooperates with the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) in doctoral training.

Research in political science is organized in independent research institutes associated with the IPW: the Institute for Intercultural and International Studies (InIIS) and the SOCIUM - Research Centre on Inequality and Social Policy. Bremen Political Science is also involved in the SFB 1342 - Global Development Dynamics of Social Policy and other research networks.

The student representatives invite all member of the political science department to the winter festivities with vegan waffles, mulled wine and apple punch.

Dear members of the Political Science community,

The winter season is approaching, and with it the end of the year. This year, we would like to celebrate together with you — gathering in a cozy atmosphere for a Christmas party to look back on the year, meet new people, come together, and have fun.

We warmly invite you to this year’s Political Science Christmas Party. It will take place on December 10, 2025 (Wednesday) starting at 6:15 p.m. Our one-hour program will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be interactive and entertaining. We are looking forward to seeing every single one of you!
