2D materials
Key aspect is the bottom-up growth of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides such as binary MoS2 and WS2 and ternary (Mo,W)S2 by atomic layer deposition (ALD). To use these layers for opto-electronic applications, monolayers can be grown by a modified ALD process ("sub-ALD"). Subsequent "confined-space annealing" can be applied to further optimize the layer quality. Monolayers can additionally be fabricated top-down by laser-thinning of multilayers.
