Poster presentation at the Joint Action Meeting

Dr. Lena Kopnarski presented a poster on young adults' adaptation strategies when handing over objects to older people at the Joint Action Meeting X in Turin and exchanged ideas with international researchers.

From July 9 to 12, 2025, the Joint Action Meeting X (JAM X) took place at the University of Turin. The event was organized in collaboration with the Central European University and the Universities of Turin and Milan-Bicocca and brought together leading cognitive scientists from around the world. The focus was on current issues in joint action, including topics such as the cognitive and neural foundations of joint actions, the development of cooperation and decision-making, and the role of language and gestures in joint action.

As part of the conference, Lena Kopnarski presented a poster entitled How Young Adults Compensate for Age-Related Differences in Object Handover Tasks. It examined how young adults hand over an object to people of the same age compared to older people and what adaptation strategies they use to make the handover efficient and coordinated. The results show that young people accelerate their movements when handing over objects to older people, presumably to adjust the overall duration of the handover to the slower movement of the older person.

In addition to presenting her own contribution, the conference offered numerous opportunities for professional exchange. In personal conversations with international colleagues, current research results were discussed and new perspectives on common topics were gained.
