  • ISO reference model for open communication
  • Data link layer: logical link control, media access control; wired and wireless bearer technologies
  • Network layer: adressing, IPv4, IPv6
  • Graph theory and routing
  • Queuing theory
  • Transport layer: congestion control, flow control, virtual connections; system examples: TCP and UDP
  • Performance evaluation of transport layer, congestion collapse
  • Network virtualisation, network function virtualisation
  • Network security
  • SDN and network management
